No fluency promise

7-minute Spanish Freeze Test.

A calm self-test for adults who understand some Spanish but freeze when they need to answer. Stop if you feel overloaded; this is practice, not a grade.

Minute 0-1

Set the baseline

Say your reason for learning in English, then try one Spanish sentence: Quiero aprender español para ___. Leave the blank simple and personal.

Minute 1-2

Answer a greeting

Prompt: ¿Cómo está? Answer aloud with one short sentence. If you freeze, use Estoy bien or Estoy aprendiendo.

Minute 2-3

Ask for slower speech

Practice: Hable más despacio, por favor. Then add: ¿Puede repetirlo? Say both without looking twice.

Minute 3-4

Use a need phrase

Say: Necesito ___. Fill the blank with ayuda, agua, un taxi, or another real need. Keep the sentence useful, not impressive.

Minute 4-5

Handle a missing word

Say: No sé la palabra, pero... Then explain around the word in English or Spanish. The skill is staying present, not perfect vocabulary.

Minute 5-6

Repeat one line

Choose the phrase that felt slowest. Listen to yourself say it once, then repeat it more calmly. Do not chase accent perfection.

Minute 6-7

Name the bottleneck

Write one label: vocabulary, retrieval, listening speed, pronunciation, or structure. Tomorrow's practice starts with that label.

How to read your result

If you recognized the prompt but could not answer, train retrieval. If fast speech blurred together, train listening in short passes. If you avoided speaking because the sound felt awkward, use slow repetition and comparison without treating any score as a teacher.
